How Is Urine Formed In Our Body?

In the lumbar region of the abdominal cavity, we have two bean shaped granular organs, which are known as kidneys. They are reddish brown in colour. The weight of each kidney is about 150 gms and it is about 11 cms long, 5 cms wide and 2.5 cms thick.

Do you know what function the kidney do in our body?

How is urine formed in our bodyKidneys work as filters in our body, as they purify our blood and remove the impurities from it. Kidneys also maintain the proper amount of every constituent in the blood. If sometimes the level of water, salt or sugar in blood exceeds the normal level, the kidneys excrete the excess amount from it. Kidneys do not allow the blood to become extra thin or thick and they also control the formation of urine. The undesirable acids and bases of the blood come out of the body as urine. There are millions of coiled capillaries in each kidney. The dissolved impurities filtered out, as the blood passes through these capillaries. The purify blood returns to the lungs. In one minute about 1.3 litres of blood passes through the kidneys. Like this, every year about 1850 litres of blood pass through these kidneys. The impurities removed from the blood pass from the kidneys to bladder where are they stored for sometime. When the bladder is sufficiently filled, one feels the necessity to empty this bag. We pass urine to empty this bag. In a day, a normal person passes 1.5 litre of urine. The damage in the kidneys is very dangerous for the body. Impurities in the blood go on increases if the kidneys become defective and have poisonous effects on the body. A person dies within few days, if his kidneys stop functioning. It is therefore necessary to have proper treatment of any disease of the kidneys. Proper quantity of food is necessary to keep them healthy. The chances of the damage of kidneys increase when we eat excessive, as the kidneys work more to expel more excretory materials. We should take eight to ten glasses of water daily to keep the kidneys in order.
