How To Curl Your Hair?
Some want-to-be comedians say the best way to curl your hair is to watch a very scary movie. But we are thinking of a more reliable, physical process that could involve an electric curling iron or hair rollers.
Over the course of a few decades, women have adopted the curling iron with enthusiasm because it is quick and easy compared to the process of using curlers. Once the curling is heated to the correct level, women simply have to roll the hair as needed for curls that will last for several hours. *Tip – make sure hair is dry before using a curling iron. It’s also wise not to place the curling iron on plastic or fabric surfaces because they need to be very hot to work well. They can burn flammable objects.
A preliminary brushing of the hair is followed by choosing which sections of the hair will be curled. Some instructions urge women to separate these sections with clips so for easier access. This allows you to work on one section at a time. Take the clip out and work on that one area by giving it another preliminary brush. Curling irons have a clip that is opened and helps hold the hair on the iron. A simple turn/twist will begin the curling process. Twirling the hair up gently works best. Many curling-iron technique instructions suggest working at the lower back of the head and moving up, finishing with the sides and the front.
* Tip – don’t touch the heated part of the curling iron with your fingers or touch the iron to the scalp!
Finishing touches can be put on with a light spray for hold. Gels might also help hold the shape.
If you don’t want to use a curling iron there is a rather simple process involving damp hair and bobby pins. The hair doesn’t have to be wet but moisture might help some individuals achieve what they are looking for.
Brush the hair first to eliminate tangles then use a gel, mousse or water to get the moisture you desire. Working with small sections, simply twist the hair around in the direction you want and use bobby pins to hold the curl. It’s often necessary to use two or three pins for each section. Speed up the finishing process by using a blow dryer on a warm/gentle setting. You may also want to let the hair dry naturally for five hours or overnight. Take the bobby pins out gently.
Of course, women have curled their hair with hair rollers for decades. These can be simple plastic items or more complex, heated curlers. Rollers of a medium size/thickness will give the nicest look – a softer curl. Most instructions suggest a medium level of heat if you use electrically heated rollers. Rollers can be removed and put back in if the curl is not what you are looking for. As with a curling iron, spray or a small amount of gel can help hold the curl.
With patience and a little experimentation anyone can have great curls in their hair!
