How To Get Rid Of Large Pores?

This may seem like a rather odd question to some people, but for those who have pores that are visibly larger than others on their body the problem is real. We have to have open pores in our skin for this large organ to work properly. Pores are there for sweating, excretion of oils and for “breathing” by the skin. But when some pores get much too large it is probably time to take some effective steps to get rid of them.

Our skin remains properly moist and soft to the touch when our thousands of pores are of the right size and working properly. But no one wants large “holes” on their skin, especially on their face. If the skin gets too dry for other reasons, pores may open up beyond normal size. In addition, people who have excessively oily skin may find some pores become larger.

Get to the Source
A key element in the size and activity of pores is androgen. This substance is essential in the creation of natural oils near and on the skin. If our diet is poor or lacking in some nutrient, the glands beneath the skin may not work properly and the pores may open up to unnatural size. Other factors may have this same effect.

Large poresMany people try exfoliation to reduce the size of larger pores. Of course, this is intended to clean excess dirt, oil and dead skin from the surface of the body. You may want to start by purchasing one of the retail face-scrubbing products that get below the skin surface. Look for Vitamin C or an active ingredient called retinol. Some people have had success with an abrasion technique (microderm). This process gets dead skin off the surface to expose new, healthy skin. These methods should be used with the advice and assistance of a dermatologist or other specialist.

Good Habits
If you see one or two larger pores or see evidence of problems such as closed pores, start a detailed program of skin care now! Use the recommended facial scrub products mentioned above as a way to begin. Facial masks using natural products like egg would be good as well.

You may need to change your brand of makeup or change how often you apply facial makeup. Try to avoid products that have harsh chemicals or alcohol that can dry the skin or cause unnatural pore activity. Natural is generally better. Clean and fresh is always best. Some people have had success with a paste of buttermilk and simple salt. When this is rubbed gently onto larger pores you may notice some immediate improvement.

You may get to the point that you seriously consider a chemical peel and or a steam treatment. These can be expensive and may cause some unwanted side effects. Be sure you understand exactly what will take place and what the results should be before agreeing to such a procedure. Large pores are unsightly and can create further problems. But take care when attempting to get rid of them.
