How To Get Rid Of Laugh Lines?
Before we proceed with getting rid of laugh lines and some of those other facial creases and lines that we view as unsightly, let’s make one thing very clear: this is not an article that advises you to stop laughing as a way to prevent or get rid of laugh lines.
As one fellow described, laugh lines and signs of regular smiling are indications of living well and enjoying family and friends. As we age we develop laugh lines and other facial marks because the nature of our skin and facial muscles change significantly.
Chemicals?
Some individuals choose the chemical peel as a way to get rid of laugh lines. There are a few levels or intensities of chemical peel so you should learn as much as possible about the process and discuss the procedure that would be appropriate for your situation. The first level of chemical peel take 30 minutes or less, using specific types of acid to reduce the effect of lines and help renew skin. The next level of peel takes much longer, an hour or more. This treatment will have more noticeable effect on the skin, especially in texture and feel.
However, if you have very deep lines in the face, you may have to choose the extensive high-level chemical peel. This can be a bit painful but is often effective against deeper lines. Results can last much longer as well.
You may also consider resurfacing, which is considerably different from chemical peel. Using a procedure that involves mild abrasives, the surface of the skin is removed, exposing new skin. This new layer appears “younger” and should have few if any lines. Some doctors achieve a similar layer removal using laser light. In this procedure, a specialist can focus on areas where laugh lines are a particular problem.
Next Step
Some individuals can afford more extensive treatments or need significant facial improvements that can’t be guaranteed with chemical peel or mild abrasion. These people might choose Botox treatment that puts botulism under the skin to help smooth the skin surface. However, this treatment also paralyzes muscles in the face, so it should be undertaken after serious thought and discussion with family members.
You may be able to afford cosmetic surgery during which laugh lines and other “defects” are physically removed. The details of this procedure vary from one patient to another and from one doctor to another. Before you choose something so extensive, try Aloe Vera, an exfoliating treatment or natural substances like papaya. Most of these products add significant, natural moisture to the skin and “plump” the skin a bit. This simple treatment may be enough to reduce laugh lines.
No matter which method you choose for getting rid of laugh lines, don’t ever stop laughing. That’s not the way to prevent them!
