How to Get Rid of Loose Skin ?
One of the most important things to think about when trying to get rid of something is just what this “thing” is. If we don’t understand loose skin, how can we really go about getting rid of it? In comparison to many other medical conditions and personal-healthy issues, loose skin may seem rather harmless and not worth a lot of worry and stress. But the truth is, loose skin really concerns people who have it.
Some people in the health-and-fitness world believe that loose skin is not a serious problem, and add that, if it exists, it is more myth than reality. Some individuals contact these fitness gurus and ask about excess skin left in some areas after they lose weight. The many concerned individuals want to know if this skin will tighten up or go away. They are often concerned about having to get the skin removed through a surgical procedure.
One key factor in dealing with loose skin is to view it as an elastic/stretchy substance that does expand and contract much more than we might think. Unfortunately, our skin is more elastic when we are younger and much less elastic when we get older. So, losing weight at a later stage of life will usually result in a bit more loose skin or skin that takes longer to return to a more “normal” state. In addition, the rate that weight is lost affects how much the skin stretches and how quickly it will return to normal.
There are commercially available creams advertised for restoring skin to its original state but most of them don’t work very well. If they do work, they are effective only on a small amount of loose skin or on skin that has only stretched a little bit. On the other end of the spectrum, an individual worried about loose skin should only choose surgery as a last resort!
In the opinion of most knowledgeable fitness experts and medical personnel, loose skin always has some fat under the surface. Therefore, a person has to lose that fat in order to lose the excess skin. There are some situations in which extra skin remains after weight loss and even after almost all the body fat is gone. But in most cases, human skin will shrink to a level that makes it almost stick to the muscle. Only in rare, rare cases should a person give up and have the extra skin physically removed.
In fact, even when confronted with the facts about loose skin and fat, many people continue to doubt the experts and their medical evidence. But the truth is, it will take much more time to get rid of loose skin than most people think. In addition, these folks will have to resign themselves to the fact that the loose skin that remains still has fat under the surface. Some of the skin will contract but almost all of the fat has to be burned away by exercise, diet and time before appearance will be close to normal again.
