How to Get Rid of Stress?
Stress – some people may think that this is the same thing as life. It seems that human beings can’t go through a day without some sort of event or activity that causes us stress. But the truth is we can manage stress by taking steps that have been tried and proven by others. The objective is to live a relatively happy life by keeping those stressful moments to a minimum.
Try This
If anything in life causes excess amounts of stress it is being too “busy,” running from one task to another and always feeling that our work is never done. But this doesn’t have to be our lot in life. We can limit the number of things we are committed to by starting to say “no” when we are faced with taking on one more thing.
You may not believe it but no living thing is meant to work and be under pressure all the time. In fact, extended periods of rest and relaxation are absolutely necessary to maintain our physical and mental health. If you continue to take on more and more responsibility you may not increase your wealth or your reputation but you will certainly increase stress.
In addition to trying to do too much with our time and energy we often try to be too much as well. People who are always in a rather nervous state and are constantly working and reworking projects are often driven by the pursuit of perfection. We certainly want to perform as well as we can.
We can try to be the best person, best spouse, best parent, best worker etc. that we can be, but we don’t have to set our standards so high that they are not achievable. Being above average and reasonably successful is stressful enough. Don’t drive for perfection and arrive at a breakdown.
Organized, Not Obsessed
It’s perfectly normal to be organized and prepared in our personal lives and in our professional lives. But even in this we must have limits. Some people cause themselves unnecessary difficulty by obsessing over the smallest details and losing their “cool” when they feel they can’t control events every step of the way. Make sure your home and workspace aren’t excessively cluttered and then get on with your life.
That’s enough.
Put your focus on getting things done 95 percent and on time. Combine this with drinking fewer caffeinated beverages and eat less sugar-filled foods. Water, fruit juices and green tea are great beverages for those who want to relax more and stress less.
Finally, if you have trouble remembering important details don’t put yourself through the wringer trying to remember everything. Don’t beat yourself up mentally about memory and attention to details. Write things down, make a short list and take care of items one at a time. If you do these simple things, treat yourself to a relaxing hot bath occasionally and take a walk without a destination once in awhile, you’ll be amazed at how much you are able to reduce the stress in your life.
