What is a Blog?
A blog is a short name for the web log. Blog is like a personal website that usually belongs to a particular individual. A blog is maintained by regular entries of the descriptions of a particular event, comments about an incident, pictures, videos and other graphics.
Concept of blogging
Most of the blogs are organizational (i.e. belong to some group or organization). They are used to provide news and comments about a particular issue or social incident. But one another type of blogs is- personal blogs (i.e. they belong to a particular person only). A personal blog functions like some online diary that represents thoughts of the holder of the blog. A typical blog contains images, links for other blogs, text and some web pages. Readers of a blog can leave their comments on the blog, in this way a blog acts as a platform to interact. Most of the blogs are textual by nature but some pay attention on photographs (called as photo blogs), music (called as MP3 blog), art (called as artlog), audio (called as podcasting blogs), videos (called as vlog) and sketches (called as sketch blog).
General classification of the blogs-
Personal Blogs- A Personal Blog is also known as an online diary of a particular individual. It is the most common and most popular form of the blogs. Personal bloggers use their blogs to interact with the general web users. Personal Blogs of movie stars, cricketers, politicians etc are extremely popular in general public, because with the help of these blogs any one can interact with some celebrity. Personal bloggers use their blogs to post comments about an issue, to represent their point view about a social incident etc. Even they use their blogs for extremely personal purposes like thanks giving, requesting criticizing etc.
Corporate blogs- A blog can also provide business facilities. A company can develop a special blog for internal use (to interact with the workers of the company and to avoid communication gaps) or for external use (to interact with costumers). With the help of internal “corporate blogs” a company can resolve the complexities of formal and in-formal channel gaps. And with the help of external corporate blogs, a company can interact with the costumers to listen their quarries, their complaints and to asses the satisfaction level of the costumers.
Question blogs- This is a special class of blogs. These blogs provide answers to the questions asked by the users of the blog. Any user can submit the question to the blog authority by means of direct submission, an E-mail, or by VOIP.
Blogs can also be classified into various types on the basis of media (Vlog, linklog, sketchlog, photoblog etc ), device and genre (these blogs pay attention on a particular area, for example- travel blogs, education blogs, house blogs, political blogs, fashion blogs, music blogs, project blogs, niche blogs, quiz blogs, dream blogs etc.)
