What Is A Leapster?

LeapFrog which is a leading manufacturer of educational games and toy designed a handheld electronic game system called Leapster. AA batteries powers Leapster which is a learning game system. An educational library is supported by the system which is also developed by LeapFrog. The games are designed for kids in age from pre-k through 4th grade.

LeapsterLeapster is Leapfrog’s first handheld learning game system. The system has a large screen and is available in both blue and pink. For game play, it has both stylus and push-button controls. The incredible, Bratz, Spiderman, SpongeBob Squarepants are among many licensed characters which the Leapster educational software library consists of.

There are different skills on which different titles focuses on and incorporates learning into game play. The skills that are taught include math facts, music and creativity, phonics and reading, number and letter recognition. Educational interactive videos are also included in some titles and the “School House Rocks” which is a famous cartoon series is also included.

The Leapster L-Max is the second system that was heavily marketed by LeapFrog in 2005. Although the designing part remains same as that of the first system but the second one includes the ability by which users can play games on TV by plugging the system into any audio/video input on television. Another feature is that the games for both systems are interchangeable.

As the games are educational so the system not only appeals kids but parents too. There are plenty of games like Batman or Disney Princesses for both girls and boys. The price of both the systems is reasonable. Both the systems have been awarded many prizes which include the 2005 Learning Magazine Teacher Choice award. Different accessories like a rechargeable battery system, headphones and a carrying case are also available.
