What Is Hands Free?
The device which allows a user to talk without holding a mobile phone directly near to his/her ears is called hands free. With the advancement of technology, it has become a must have device. Also in some parts of the world one can only talk while driving by using a hands free device.
Headset is used in most cases of a hands free device. Wired and unwired are the two types of headsets available. Bluetooth technology is used in case of unwired headsets in order to transmit signals between headset and the phone.
In some phones there is an in-built hands free device and no special equipment is required in this case. By using a speaker phone, the process of hands free is achieved. Although there is no need to hold the phone but one should be close enough to the phone so that clear voice transmission can be achieved.
As cell phones became popular, people while driving also got distracted if their cell phone rings. So, laws have been passed by some jurisdictions that relate to the use of hands free device while driving. Safety is also increased due to the fact that in most cases, these devices have automated voice dialing. But in some parts of the world, use of cell phone even with hands free while driving is strictly prohibited specially in case of people who drive buses and the younger drivers.
It depends on the capabilities of a cell phone that which type of hands free device a person can use. While some may support a wireless device, some may not support a wired one. But most of the phones have Bluetooth technology through which hands free can be used. In areas where a hand free is required, this feature is an important selling factor.
There are different hands free devices having different prices. Most of the cell phones have wired hands free device. So, if one loses it then its replacement cost is near about $10 to $30 US Dollars (USD). But for wireless hands free device the price may range from $20 USD to even more than $100 USD as it depends on the features and the brand involved. In order to filter out background sounds, some hands free devices may have noise-cancelling technology.
