What Is Ultra HDTV?
Super video television includes high-definition television (HDTV) and ultra HDTV which is also referred as full HDTV, super high resolution or true HDTV. Although both types of TVs are better than traditional TVs but ultra HDTV is better than HDTV. The video technology used in HDTV is in such a way that a much clearer, colorful and sharper image is observed as compared to traditional or standard televisions (SDTVs). HDTV has become very popular these days and people tend to much bigger screens today to view films, sports and other stuff.
A higher resolution of picture can be observed in HDTV. Larger the resolution, better the picture looks on screen. A sharper and better picture is observed if there are more lines or pixels. 480 lines or pixels are offered by a traditional television.
720, 768 or 1080 or up to 1920 x 1080 pixels are offered by HDTV displays which are big as compared to older displays. The one main reason because of which size of TVs has grown is that in order to take advantage of increase in visibility, a bigger screen is needed.
Video resolution technology has further developed with the advent of ultra HDTVs. Although the image resolution offered by HDTV is same as that of ultra HDTV which is 1080 lines (1920 x 10180 pixels) but the difference between the two lies in the order of lines in which the image is displayed. This has nothing to do with number of lines or pixels. In 1080i which is one of interlaced resolutions, before the even lines, odd lines are displayed while in case of progressive scans which include resolutions like 1080p, the image is displayed in a sequence, line by line. Due to this reason, progressive scans offer crisper and smoother viewing experience than interlaced scans. A lot of bandwidth is required for 1080p resolution. So with the use of systems like Blu-ray and some video game consoles like Sony PlayStation 3, people can take full advantage of ultra HDTV.
By keeping ultra HDTV in mind, liquid crystal displays (LCD) and plasma TVs are also manufactured and are popular too. Same rule is also followed here that large size of set means better picture and better resolution. While buying an HDTV or ultra HDTV, sound is also considered an important factor. It is seen that if image resolution is better, sound will be better too.
Ultra HDTVs make a real difference when it comes to sound. The video standards today are capable of delivering six different sounds to 5 or 6 different speakers but ultra HDTV can deliver 24 different sounds to 24 different speakers. And this is considered a major difference like video resolution.
