When Was Water Discovered?

Humans became aware of water when they realized they were alive and needed a liquid to sustain them, which means water must have been discovered a long time ago.

Each molecule of water is composed of two atoms of hydrogen and an atom of oxygen. It is represented as H2O in the language of chemistry. Water is a regarded as an elemental symbol in Christian philosophy. It stands for ‘cleanliness and purity’ in the religion. Christians often refer to water on certain occasions as ‘holy water’ and same is the case with the Hindus and Sikhs who call their ‘holy water’ ‘amrita’. Wu Wei, which is an important part of Taoist philosophy, regards waters highly. Throughout history ‘water’ has been regarded as a basic element along with ‘fire’, ‘earth’, ‘air’ and the ‘skies’.
Pure water is tasteless and odorless and there is a common tendency among the folks to confuse mineral water with pure water. Mineral water sold in the markets is not pure but, as the name suggests, it has minerals, which are beneficial for the body, dissolved in it.

Although 71 percent of the Earth’s surface is covered with water, a mere 3 percent is drinkable. The drinkable water is also known as fresh water and more than 70 percent of the fresh water is used in agriculture.
