Where Is Ball State University?
The Ball State University is located in the northwest side of Muncie, Indiana in the United States. It is a state-run research university and it is also known as Ball State, Ball U or BSU. The university also runs satellite campuses in Lennox, Australia; Costa Rica; Indianapolis, US; London, England; Prague, Czech Republic and Worcester, Britain.

The university was started as a private school in 1899 to educate teachers; it was then known as the Eastern Indiana Normal School. The school was closed down in 1901 due to lack of funding. The school, however, was reopened the following year and it received a grant of $100,000 during the next three years from Francis Palmer, a retired banker. It was renamed Palmer University. The authorities decided to rename the institution as Palmer College between 1905 and 1907. The institution repeatedly faced financial difficulties and it was bought up by Ball Brothers of Ball Brothers’ Glass Manufacturing Company in 1917 at a foreclosure. The institution was initially run as a college affiliated to the Indiana University. The college became a university in 1961.
The flagship university campus spans more than 1,000 acres and about 20,000 students study at the main campus in Muncie, which employs over 950 persons as faculty. The courses offered by the university are regarded as good by the rating agencies. It is also classified as a doctoral research university (DRU) by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions for Higher Learning.
