Where Is Penn State?

Penn State is short for Pennsylvania State University. The university has 24 campuses throughout the state of Pennsylvania. The University Park Campus is the largest and the most prestigious. It houses over 44,000 students and it is ranked 15th in the United States among public universities.

Pennsylvania2The university was founded as a degree granting institution in February, 1855 as the Farmers’ High School of Pennsylvania. It initially focused on agricultural studies along with classical education. In the early years of 20th century, Pennsylvania State University was issuing more baccalaureate degrees than any other university in the state. In the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s the university expanded rapidly and the numbers of students crossed the 40,000 mark.
