Where Is The Bermuda Triangle?
It is an imaginary area which resembles a triangle situated off the southeastern Atlantic coast of the United States. If is roughly the area contained by the (imaginary) lines connecting Bermuda, Florida and Puerto Rico. Even the size varies from 500,000 square miles to 1,500,000 square miles depending upon the author you are reading. It is not officially recognized as an area and the term is used only in unofficial communication.
A number of ships and airplanes passing through the area have gone missing in the past for reasons science hasn’t been able to explain yet. Countless theories have been put forward to explain the mysterious disappearances. Most of the theories hint at the involvement of supernatural forces; therefore they are of not much worth to those looking for rational explanations behind the disappearances.
There are two scientific reasons which can account for almost all the disappearances: (1) it is one of the two places on the Earth where the magnetic compasses do not point towards the geographic north. If this error is not compensated for, a ship or a airplane would soon find itself in trouble. This has been attributed as a cause for the majority of mysterious disappearances. This is a commonly known fact among scientists studying the Bermuda Triangle; (2) Sudden appearance of thunder storms because of the peculiar climate of the area can also account for some disappearances. The Bermuda Triangle may continue to hold the public imagination, but anyone with a scientific background would count this as a wrongly held public perception.
