The answers depends upon which university are you talking about. Xavier University of Cincinnati, Ohio is one of the oldest Catholic Universities in the United States. It was founded as a men’s college in 1831. The name was changed in 1840 to St. Xavier’s College. In 1912, the College was moved to its current location and it was renamed St. Xavier High School (Cincinnati). The institute got its current name in 1940. It is located on 3800 Victory Parkway in the city of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Xavier University of Louisiana is a premier institute which was founded to educate African-Americans in natural sciences; 10% of its current students are non-blacks. It is located on 7325 Palmetto Street, New Orleans, LA.
There is also a Xavier University on Hayes Street, Cagayan de Oro, in the Philippines. The university was founded on 7 June, 1931 by James T. G. Hayes, an archbishop with only 17 first-year students.
