(1)Google: tops the list and accounts for responding to around 67% search queries in the world. The company was founded in 1998 but just after a decade, it clearly dominates this genre.

(2)Yahoo: Almost 7.8% of the search queries route through Yahoo and it makes Yahoo the second most popular search engine in the world. It is especially popular in Japan, where it handles 51% of the search queries.

(3)Baidu: The Chinese giant stands at number three in terms of handing search queries in the world but its real strength lies in the Chinese market; its market share in China is 62.1%. Its handles 7% search queries globally and it is the world’s largest non-English search engine.

(4)Bing: It is the result of what the English media often terms as the ‘IT Wars’. It’s the Microsoft’s response to break Google’s dominance and create some credible competition. Bing accounts for 2.9% of the search queries.

(5)EBay: This online auction and buying-selling website comes at the number five when it comes to answering online queries. The website responds to around 1.5% global search queries.

(6)Naver: It handles more than 70% Korean search queries, is the sixth most popular search engine world wide with 1.3% global queries routing through Naver. It was founded in 1999 by ex-Samsung employees and some of its qualities were later adopted by Google.
