Why Earth Is Divided Into Time Zones?

The reason for this division is convenience. In simple words, if we had single time, some of us might have noon at night. A time zone is a region or an area on the surface of earth where the time is uniform.

Time ZonesTime zones are geographical divisions of 15o each. The local time at the town of Greenwich in Britain is considered as the standard time and it is known as Greenwich Mean Time. With a single time zone, things may look something like this: the Japanese are having their lunch but the Indians are still waiting for their bed tea and the Africans would not have even woken up and their clocks read 1100 hrs (say). It would be a nightmare to fix meetings because 6’o clock (morning) in China could mean 6’o clock (midnight) in Poland!
