During the Netflix Geeked Week livestream this past Friday on 10th June, as a part of Summer Game Fest, Geoff Keighley unveiled Dota Dragon’s Blood Season 3. Not even 5 months have yet passed, and Studio Mir has already started on Dota Dragon’s Blood Season 3. This causes one to think that the DOTA series is a linchpin in Netflix’s long-term animation play.
Studio Mir has been Netflix’s go-to animation production company this past year due to it delivering not only Dota: Dragon’s Blood Season 1, 2 and now 3 back to back, but also the studio has animated Netflix’s series Voltron: Legendary Defender, and Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, and films The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. Studio Mir has also partnered with Warner Bros. throughout the years, producing works like Mortal Kombat Legends, and Batman: Death in the Family.

Announcement
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the iconic gaming event E3 was cancelled in 2020. That prompted a few of the biggest hosts such as Geoff Keighley (the host of the Video Game Awards) to start the Summer Game Fest. This year multiple companies including PlayStation, Xbox, Bethesda, Blizzard, Netflix, Capcom, DC, and tons more have partnered up with Summer Game Fest to bring about the liveliest evening of the year.

It was in Netlfix’s Geeked Week livestream that they unveiled Dota Dragon’s Blood Season 3.

The trailer showed a sneak at Davion having a heart-to-heart with Slyrak. Though everyone is just waiting to see Kaden again, the deadliest Dragon Knight of all. Mirana will be processing the loss of her friend, and with her kingdom waiting for her to lay down the path for the future she’ll definitely play a much more emotional role.

Release Date
August 11th, 2022 was announced as the official air date for Dota Dragon’s Blood- Book 3. Valve and Netflix have sure been at it with this series and hopefully more such adaptations of video game lore keeps on coming.
What to Look Forward to
This rich adaptation of DOTA has brought the lore to life in a very lively way. The look at how the Eldwurm Dragon’s live, and how Terrorblade wants to use them for his personal gain further cement every character’s history. Taking the Invoker into perspective has always been one of the most fascinating part of the series so far, as his moves are calculated- as per his genius. It is through these elaborate depictions that the DOTA lore has been brought out and that his also increased the pleasure in playing the game by a dozen-fold.
As per the usual routine with Netflix, Book 3 of DOTA is going to release all episodes at once. Dota Dragon’s Blood Season 3 will have 8 episodes like its previous two seasons most likely. So mark 11th Aug. on your calendars and happy binge watching!
