How To Lose Belly Fat?

More people are concerned about the fat in their belly area than in most other places. While many people considered a large belly an annoyance and unsightly, there are some medical/health reasons for getting rid of this excess fat. People who have excess belly fat may be more likely to have heart problems and diabetes.

The two key factors in controlling and eliminating belly fat are diet and exercise. People who aren’t active enough, don’t get regular exercise, eat later in the day and eat the wrong things are very likely to have an enlarged belly. Add to this a lack of sufficient sleep and the pace of life that causes us to eat poor food quickly and the belly fat problem can become serious.

Scientific studies have shown that having most of the body fat in the belly area is more serious than having it in the hips or thighs, for example. That’s why some people don’t just use the weight measurement as an indication of overall health and condition. Doctors also find that the presence of excess belly fat might have a direct connection to certain cancers, because this type of fat affects cancer cell growth.

Exercise is a good way to control and reduce belly fat, but only if it is the correct type of exercise. Much of the health/conditioning literature emphasizes that exercise such as crunches and sit-ups may not be right for reducing the fat in the belly area. These exercises might strengthen the muscle but not reduce the fat. According to most of this information, it is necessary to engage in exercise that will “burn” the fat away, before trying to tone the body.

Among the items that should be included in the diet to help reduce belly fat are whole grains. These grains apparently help control the rate at which sugar and fat travel through the body. Nutrition studies have shown that diets high in carbohydrates tend to cause fat to increase in the belly area. With the correct types of unsaturated fats, this can be controlled.

For decades, doctors, exercise gurus and nutritionists have urged people to get more water into their bodies. As it turns out, this can help reduce excess fat. In addition to drinking the proper amount of water, people should make sure they eat foods that are high in water content. This includes vegetables such as lettuce and tomatoes, as well as the citrus fruits. In recent years, many people have taken to drinking certain types of tea, to get the anti-oxidants that can keep us healthy. These teas, especially green tea, may also be a good way to reduce belly fat! Some studies have shown that certain teas help reduce the excess by slowly taking away overall body fat.

This, combined with a good exercise program, can reduce the waistline as well as improve overall health. With reduction of belly fat, the keys are diet and exercise. This holds true for almost any health condition.
