Prime Video Shares the First Teaser of Its Psychological Thriller Drama Series ‘Dead Ringers’

While the number of psychological thrillers across different streaming platforms is weak, Prime Video ensures to deliver the best shot when given an opportunity.

The streaming platform shared the first teaser trailer of its upcoming project from the genre, Dead Ringers, recently via its main YouTube Channel.

The series is based on David Cronenberg’s 1988 film of the same title. Amazon Prime Video ordered Dead Ringers in August 2020, with Alice Birch as chief producer and head writer. The show started filming in August 2021 in New York City.

What’s the Storyline of Prime Video’s Dead Ringers?

David Cronenberg’s Dead Ringers is inspired by Stewart and Cyril Marcus’ real-life story, following two brothers who lived a life of deception and lies after falling for the same lady. Birch and her crew kept some of the names in the adaptation but slightly twisted the storyline.

Dead Ringers, the TV series, focuses on a pair of identical twins who share everything from lovers to drugs and maintain a healthy bond between themselves. Everything appears to be flowing smoothly, but there will probably be something that will shake the sisters’ bond to keep up with the original storyline.

What Does the Teaser Trailer Have?

Prime Video’s teaser trailer about Dead Ringers doesn’t showcase much about the upcoming series but is a great introduction to the main characters.

It glimpses at a pregnancy and a baby, giving an illusion that parenthood might be the main breaking point for the two sisters.

Who are the Makers of Dead Ringers?

Dead Ringers is written by Birch, who also serves as a chief producer alongside Erica Kay, Anne Carey, Sean Durkin, Barbara Wall, David Robinson, James G. Robinson, and Ali Krug. Other top producers are Sue Naegle, Megan Ellison, Stacy O’Neil, and Rachel Weisz.

Amazon Studios leads the production team, accompanied by Morgan Creek Entertainment and Annapurna Television.

Who is Likely to Appear in Dead Ringers Season One?

During the initial announcement, Rachel Weisz was revealed to star in the series as Beverly and Elliot Mantle, the twin gynecologists.

As of August 2021, other actors joined the cast, including Michael Chernus (Tom), Britne Oldford (Genevieve), Poppy Liu (Greta), Emily Meade (Susan), Jennifer Ehle (Rebecca), and Jeremy Shamos (Joseph).

When Should Fans Expect Season One of Dead Ringers?

Dead Ringers will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on April 21st, 2023, as revealed in a poster on Amazon Studios’ Twitter account.

Prime Video, Annapurna, Rotten Tomatoes, and Dead Ringers (an account created in September 2014 in favor of the show) have also shared the official teaser and posters to promote Dead Ringers before its launch.
