The Universal Studios has studios throughout the world and the company was founded on 8 June, 1912 by a German immigrant, Carl Laemmle after merging eight smaller companies. It was then named as Universal Film Manufacturing Company.
The company was incorporated as Universal Pictures Company in 1925. In 1964, the Music Corporation of America (MCA) took control of the company and formed the Universal City Studios which was then changed its name to Universal Studios. Universal Studios is now a production subsidiary of NBC Universal, a big media and entertainment conglomerate.
